temp sending unit

What is the diff on the Temp sending unit pre 76 "A-641-632-00" and 77-89 "C-606-112-00" (pelican's part#s)? I think thay are not interchangable since selling separately.

Thanks

The sensor matches the dash gauge, if the late sensor is used w/ the earlier gauge it will read way higher than it ought to.

So, highest temp is different between them. What is the hightest in 77-89 one?

With -76 temp sender, can I use an after-market-gauge (like VDO selling at the Pelicanparts) having a range 100-300?
