Who knows what all those little metal cans are -- tehy all look like capacitors (I know the marchal rectangular can is the voltage regulator). There are maybe two small ones and a larger one at the top of the panel on my 1973.5 911. When going from the Bosch CD to a MSD unit which ones can I get rid of? What do they all do?

The only things that go are the CDI box and the coil.

Ok.. hope this won't be as
" . . . . Bad Ronnie . . . . Bad Bad Ronnie "

On top of the MSD are two red units. The left square is the MSD tach adaptor. The right round is the MSD voltage noise suppressor.

To the left is a metalic round large washer with a red light in the center.. on top of the red light is a momentary switch. This may be wired to the Racor fuel filter/water seperator. when the button is pressed the light will go on if water in the seperator..

Above the MSD box is another momentary button with a 75amp relay beneith it. It is the starter solenoid jump. The second pic is easier to see this.

What's not seen is above the 2 momentary buttons is 2 on/off switches.
One is for the MSD electric trigger when you turn the ignition on. So I can turn the engine over without the MSD engaged.
The other one is a switch that is wired from the fuel pump relay and that WAS connected to the CIS air flapper. It used to turn the fuel pump off if the car rolled and the engine stopped. So I can now do fun things with the engine and MSD without the pump engaged.

The whole package is like a date with a lotta flexability. I can isolate and quickly R&R the whole package.

Of course the coil in the stock elec panel needs no explanation.. and the fuse/buss bar gizmo was explained previously.

The final "look" pic with the fuel plumbing on the front preforated metal, and the PMOs installed will be sent to PMO. The "Man" is interested in interesting engine compartments to display his carbs on his site. So it's a little more than a quick eyeball inspection.

Maybe the panels will provide a worthy frame for his art work.

Ronnie? We GOTTA love you. The amount of thought you put into what you do shows. But I'm cheating here. I realized that some time ago. When you 1st showed up in my driveway.

The thought and effort that Ron puts into his projects is above and beyond most.

thanks Matt

the steel mesh was cured outside for awhile, then routine Por-15 black..
then the engine sheet metal, fan and fan housing are shot with same black Por..
The black should be a nice contrast for the Ruby Red engine shroud, Ruby Red heat tin, SS fuel lines, and nice carbs.
