...the label wasn't kidding...

Finished uo the welding on the front end of this beast...."soon to be RS"....removed the left side battery box for better weight distribution and cleaned up the front supension pan area with a grinder...just surface oxidation fortunately. ..prepped for POR 15 and applied the first coat...sparingly. I was looking at the label for "clean-up" instructions. Forget it! It basically tells me, that NO SOLVENT WILL CUT POR 15....don't even think about it...throw away the brush. I thought I had cleaned my hands until this morning I'm in the kitchen at work and happen to look at my hands and there are black splotches on both of them. Scotchbrite should work right? Nope...h'mm maybe steel wool, well sort of I guess...depends if I'm ever going to need to grow skin on my knuckles again. If its this tough to get this stuff off my hands and I didn't prep them very well....it ought to work fine on my car as I did follow the instructions. I guess in California you gotta be careful not to drip this stuff while wearing shorts...or yer thong!

I got that stuff on my hands and it was hell to get off as well. I takes a couple of days of washing your hands twice a day before one magical day, if you scratch hard enough, it'll then start to come off your hands.

I coined a term for this condition: "POR-15 tatoos"
I love the warnings on the POR-15 label.

Saturate your hands with hand cream prior to working with any grease, sandpaper, or paint. Then use disposable rubber gloves.

This advice may not prevent something like POR from getting to you but it is great advice whenever working with nasty stuff. The hand cream jams up all the pores and prevents (most) anything from getting sub-dermal.

GoJo has a paint and stain remover for washing your hands. Works great for most paint. Mostly removes por15 if you use it withing a few hours of getting it on you.

From experience -- if you are ever PORing the underside of a car on a lift, wear a shower cap.

I had black streaked blonde hair for a month.

Acetone with a scotchbrite pad should do it.

Proper protection is important. This leaves me wondering what method the wanker guy used to get POR15 onto his...ummm....you know. I guess I'd suggest that automotive maintenance and repair is perhaps not an ideal time to enjoy the freedom of nudity, and that if nude wrenching si what puts the lead in your pencil, then perhaps a prophylactic might make sense. Ya think?
