lap times at various tracks
I am looking for input on lap times for various tracks around the midwest and east coast that I can use to gage my performance.
If you have a 911SC and wouldn't mind posting lap times and mods to your car for the following tracks.... Mosport Mid Ohio Watkins Glen Gingerman Elkhart Lake ( Road America) Putnam Park I want to get a feel for how I rate when I drive DE events there..... |

Why not just go to the PCA Club Race site and check out their results? The SC runs in G Stock, doesn't it? Except the Euro in F or something?

Watkins Glen times
My 3.2 coupe (stock)with me driving laps the 3 1/2 miles in about 3 minutes.
I'm still trying to get around without getting lost while still seeing the flag stations. I believe that with some more seat time we can shorten that by 10-15 seconds. In the instructor Enduro, a Cup car ( I think) driven by a driver with big time experience was turning laps in just over 2 minutes. |

My fastest so far at the Glen in an 85 coupe
with street tires is 2:34. A friend did a 2:28 in an 86 coupe last month. Ketih Lally 85 911 coupe

Mid-Ohio this spring 1:48.9
Watking Glen in August 2:26 These are best times with a Hot Lap. Hard to achieve because of slower traffic and such. If you can run in the low 1:50's at the Mid-Ohio with a normally aspirated car, you doing well. Monster Turbos can achieve time about 10 seconds faster. The Glen is good if you can break 2:30's. Larger horsepower cars have even more of an advantage their and can pull close to the 2 minute mark. My car is pretty much a full track car except for a stock engine and transmission. |

Sorry, didn't tell you the car, 89 3.2. In an SC, these times would be significantly slower!

Of the tracks you listed, I've only been to Watkins Glen. I have a 77 911S (SC flares) with a stiff suspension and stock 2.7 running on 235/255 A032R tires. My best time is ~2:25 with consistent ~2:26's. Breaking 2:30 is a good goal in your SC at the Glen.

Look at the D-Sports Racer times. Mark Jaremko ran a 1:24 in a 1000cc NA Yamaha-powered Stohr race car that is currently for sale for ~$50K. Of course you can't drive it on the street and it ain't a Porsche, but I don't think you could go faster for less $$$.... TT

Now with about 80 more hp, I'm itching to see how much time I can take off... Mike

Tom, I'm talking DE's of course and mostly stock 911 street cars. To break into the 1:40's under these circumstances is respectable. I am well aware of the much lower times for competition. I thing the F1 cars can run in the 1:06's. It's all very humbling and puts things in perspective.

I just discovered this site today http://corner-carvers.com/trackrecords/
They have member's best times at a variety of tracks. More "realistic" I suppose than looking at race times.

Tom, and that was about 15 years ago when Willow was a slower track by 5 seconds!
