Passenger Side Window Woes

The passenger side window on my 87 Carrera Targa keeps coming out of the horizontal rail that holds/supports it. The result is the window just rolls down a few inches then, I need to give it a push to lower it the rest of the way. The felt in the forward vertical window guide looks good. So I don't know what is fowling it up. I have had it apart and everything looks fine to me.

Is there something that secures the window into the horizontal support or is the weight of the window itself supposed to keep it intact?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Mike

You need to take your door apart.

The glass is glued into a rail, but it can be pushed out if the rear adjustment is out. There is a bar with a slider on the inside of the door toward the striker. The bar has a slotted mount. You will likely have to try different positions while you run the window up & down to find the mounting spot that won't put a strain on the glass/rail. It may sound complicated, but once you see it, it's simple.

I had a similar problem where the windows rolled up too high. I took the inside door panel off and adjusted the bit that stops the window from rolling any higher. it worked for the passenger side but the drivers side still rolls up too high.
I think I need to make the slot longer so I could move the bit further down. How could I cut into the metal without taking the whole door apart?
Sorry if took away from original post.

Awsome techweenie. That is what I needed to know. I have already taken the door apart 3 times and the adjustments are pretty easy to dial in. I just need to re-glue the window into the railing then. I wonder if Wayne and Tom have the glue I need? I will call them tomorrow to find out and then order up.

Thank you.
