Manual top conversion

Would you believe I've been having problems w/ my top. I know there are posts on this topic w/ solutions to fix the problem. But, i feel the long term cure would be a manual top.

So, my question is, can a mechanical top be converted to a manual top, and does Pelican sell the parts.

I am currently exploring the same thing. I guess I need to price the latches and get moving on it. Here is a contact I found for Targa info.

Take the motors out the back and the front header. Replace front header motors with manual latches. You need to check header style thorough PET to see if they are the same.

I've also been considering this. Wouldn't a hybrid work? Power for the roll up and roll back and manual latches replacing the front motors and latches. If anyone has done this or a complete manual retrofit, it seems like many of us would like to know.
Thanks,
Chris

Depends on what you want to do?

If your locking motors work well (the motors that secure the top to the windshield), leave them intact - much more convenient to secure the top.

Then, behind the speaker grill panels in the back seat, loosen the 19mm bolt on the center of the drive top transmission.

Voila, manual top with power locking at no cost.

To convert a top to manual locking, you will have to swap the front cab rail to the older manual style - not diffivult, but you will have to do a little searching for parts.

I am now using the"cheap" conversion of loosening the 19mm bolts with the automatic latches still. However, the red conv top light stays illuminated when I put the top down. Any suggestions on getting this light to go dark? Other than that, the new system works ok for me.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

Behind the passenger side rear panel, you will see 2 switches. The lower of the two is the top-down limiter. adjust the switch so it is depressed when the top is lowered.

You can always pull the bulb out. I had to replace mine and it is pretty easy to remove.

i bolted on a manual top on my '87. the old one had too many issues. the roller latch striker plate on the windshield frame was all that needed to be changed. the manual top uses a shorter striker, which is a direct swap.
