Wow I thought I was doin' good when I hit my hand with a grinder... twice. Once with a wire wheel once with a true grinding wheel. |
|
Do a Rambo and stitch it yourself. That's what i'd do.......... ;) I actually did some some self-stitching once. Really bad knucklebuster. Worked good. Didn't feel too good doing it though. :p |

I tried to use my moms EZ cutter one time, the one where you move what your slicing back and for and the razor cuts thin slices. Well i remember thinking as i was slicing chops of my carrot what that other platic thing was. Well after a peice of skin from the bottom of my hand was sliced off, i realized that it was the safety holder. |

back in the day I worked as a lot boy, then detailer at a Datsun dealership. We had these long handles for holding razor blades for removing stickers on new cars. The razors were the one-sided type and you slid them into the end of the handle. I was having trouble getting an old one out, so I was pushing the end of the handle against the work bench the razor swung out, doubled back, and sliced the end of my thumb down to the bone. To echo previous posters, you have to get to a doc and get stitches within hours of the incident, otherwise they will NOT be able to stitch it up. |

Comforting to know that I'm not the only one! I'm taking the advice of all and heading to the docs asap. Wish me luck! :) Adam |

Will post a pic later....but I have that SAME scar you are going to have......'cept mine took a little hook towards the thumb. |

End of day and rushing with a compound mitre saw - misjudged the compound angle and came down on my wrist. No pain just a bad sound and blood on my safety glasses. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1070382094.jpg At first I thought I could drive myself to the hospital (home alone) but couldn't figure out how to drive the pcar and keep pressure on the cut. Luckily a neighbor was home. No nerve or tendon damage - can't believe how stupid I was that day. Another inch and the outcome could have been 'final'. Can't get over how old my hands look :( - that's what moonlighting for years as a DIY contractor will do for ya. Be careful with those tools folks. |

Cut the tip of one of my fingers off on my table saw...went to the hospital and they said there was nothing they could do and that it would grow back. I thought they were BSing me but it did! I feel like a starfish. |

Was working a commercial construction job putting up a wall using metal studs, picked one up to hand to my laborer and shoved it towards him across a scaffold rig. It hits one of the other studs and bounces back where my right hand is still hovering up in the air from releasing the stud, the end of it slices a very neat flap off the top of my thumb. Folded back about half an inch of skin. Set it back in place and duck-taped it down until I could get to the Dr. Way cool scar though. |

Was this thread really necessary? http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/puke.gif |

damn, that happened to me, the "pouch" (i like that desc, rickm) on my left, while shucking oysters for my girlfriend. i guess i used the wrong knife. i was a total wuss, wuss enough not to remember to take a pic, damnit! but my point is, get to the Doc asap. cut looks clean, but my eyes are not that great to see the bacteria. i dont know what is dirtier, oysters or your weather stripping. get those stitched, i did. |

Was just trying to remind everybody that in light of the project season (up where the p'cars go away for winter anyways) that saftey is always important! The doc can't suture it up but he says i'll live and the nurse that bandaged it up told me 'who ever she was, she isn't worth it' :D The boys at work are gonna have a hayday with this one... On the bright side, damn was she cute! Adam |
