Please help IDing this part (or debris)
I found this laying on top of my number 6 cylinder after removing the air shroud. It was laying right next to the intake port, on the side closest to the front of the car. I think it is made out of steel, and it is not more than 1/32 thick. It is curved almost exactly like a fin on the cooling fan.
![]() It looks like a fin from the fan or deflector behind the alternator, but everything in those areas is accounted for. It looks like it broke away on the left side, but a long time ago, as the broken edge is definitely not clean. Thanks, Olivier

It very possibly could be part of the sheetmetal that's attached to the bottom of the shroud that deflects air into the oil cooler.

No, I have that piece, it had one loose rivet that I just replaced.
I checked that and the back of the alternator very carefully. I am thinking it may be from a previous repair. Olivier
