3.2 Ignition Coils NLA?

Anyone currently know of a source for new ignition coils for a 3.2? Pelican is showing unavailable for both the Genuine and Bosch options.

Edit: for some reason I thought it was distributor. A msd one should work fine.

I have yet to find a coil with the proper voltages and designed to work on a 3.2 DME engine.

I had to find an old black coil from a salvage facility.

I agree with you. The new replacements are garbage and don’t work. I tried 2 different new ones over the past decade and they performed very poorly instantly.

Hope someone decides to make new ones correctly.

O'reillys. Same coil, just gray top instead of brown.

Will this work?

Looks like it is backordered too.

Which one are you referring to? A good working alternative to the ancient OEM unit would be great to know about.

Part number please? Or what coil does one ask for? I would love to have a good quality spare on hand for the day my nearly 40 year old used coil dies.

The 964 coils will work on a 3.2

I’ve been running an MSD Blaster High Vibration coil in my 85 for a couple of years with no problems. —Dave

Any insight about why they fail so much? I've read this for years now and I wonder what I'll do the day my 35-year old black original coil goes south.

Any good replacement to suggest?

Read here under Typical Ignition Coil Values; https://www.systemsc.com/diagnostic.htm

The best replacement coil for a 911 3.2 would be the 993 coil based on similar characteristics.

For even earlier cars, in my case a 1970T, we find original "001"coils in working order and use them. Any of the aftermarket ones are suspect with relatively high failure rates. Oh, and I keep a spare in the frunk. ; )

Thanks!
May I ask what the N figure is your data? Transform ratio?

Correct, i.e. the turns ratio.

They are made poorly and cheaply with low quality materials in Brazil or some other South American country.

I may order a 993 coil just to have it in stock and on my shelf for when I need it.

Can anyone definitively compare / contrast 964 vs 993 coils as potential substitutes for the 3.2 unit?

The Carrera coils were used across the models, 944, 928, and Carrera
