Porsche Crest Forth Porsche model? Retro with style?

With all this talk about a forth Porsche model (a 4 door saloon) I got this crazy idea. Why not take a completely different route and go retro with style. Like Ford has with their modern GT40.

What if Porsche AG were to build a modern 904? I mean modern the same way as the new GT40. Basically as close as possible to the original looks, but with modern parts.

Porsche has already got a perfect mid engine car in the 986. With Porsche's engeneering power they must be able to use this as basics for a new 904? They also have an engine already; the Boxster S 3,2 engine with 260HP. Now combine this with a lightweight "RS/Club Sport" approach. No big stereo, no aircon, no electric seats, no sunroof, no electric windows etc.

Don't you think that would be a great "package"? I mean a car like this would be a competitor to the Lotus Elise yet still have the performance of a 996 Am I dreaming? Perhaps. It'd be expensive and it would also be a threat to 986 sales... Yeah I'm dreaming

But then again the combined enthusiasm of this board could make it possible..... We must put preassure on Porsche AG.

BTW this thread is an ideal possibility for people to post whatever 904 pics they may have....nudge nudge

Automobile atlanta sell a kit to turn a 914 into a 904-kindalookalike. The site
doesn't have the latest pic, which came out in a feature about them in the november issue of 911& porsche mag.

Yeah "Sedan". I don't know why I wrote "Saloon"? Maybe because I read it in an article... We say "Sedan" in Denmark too
