Help finding paint code
I just purchased a 84 911 targa with 81k which I got for a song.(5.5k) The motor has all documentation including smog up to 80536 miles and runs great. Now the reason the song came along, the car has no rust and no visible signs of a accident anywhere BUT it doesn't have a single panel that is not horribly alligatored. The interior is pretty worked also but I happen to have a interior from my 85 that was totaled. I am going to repaint the car another color since I have to strip it. Don't worry I will do it right by removing all of the stuff in the luggage,engine and interior compartments. So now for the color and here is my question. In the book "Original PORSCHE 911" by Peter Morgan on page 7 is a picture of a turbo that I THOUGHT was Violet Blue Metallic. (I looked at the option codes for that year) So I promptly stopped by a body shop started looking at the paint chips for that color (57 I think) well it looks nothing like the picture in the book. So does anyone know the paint code for that picture? Is the paint chip just horribly off and the code correct? I am removing a metric buttload of parts so I have some time to figure this out but any help would be appreciated.

Melted - that Turbo is BLACK !!!!
It appears to be a dark purple colour on P7 due to the light (late afternoon/early evening). There's another picture of the car on P112. Andy '69 911E------->R
