Cordless (Butane) Soldering Irons
Anyone using a butane cordless soldering iron? Suggestions on brands/models would be appreciated.
Thanks! ![]()

IIRC, my friend has one made / marketet by MAC tools. Fine torch. While I think the solder-iron part of it is a bit ridiculous (I always have 110V), I think the wire shink tube heating capability and adapter are amazing.

I had a cordless, I forget the brand, but it was orange, and a quality name brand. I currently have a butane Weller. Both worked/work well, but for soldering I preferred the orange one by far.

After watching Rod Birch (stereo guy) do some work on my car I bought one from Snap On (Blue Point) about 7 years ago. It is the smaller size and I use it quite frequently. I find that when you are under the dash or doing any interior work the lack of a cord is quite helpful.

Weller Pyropen. Works like a charm!

I use them ll the time, they work great at the top of a 60' mast.

The rechargeable might have been a Wahl Iso-tip. I don't see the orange and red ones in any of the listings. Might be the old models.

I second the Weller Pyropen, they are excellent IMHO.
