Question How Much Does Your 911 Weigh?

Just trying to find out, because I am curious to know how they compare. What does the TARGA, CAB. COUPE, and SLANTNOSE versions weigh in at on an axle scale. Front and rear weights and total weight. Not really interested in a stripped out AX or track unit, but an everyday driver with the standard/optional equipement, A/C, P/W, P/L etc. I have seen some of the "published weights" and I was trying to see the actual difference in the various models and weights. Thanks.

My bone-stock '92 C2 weighs 3008# with 3/8ths tank of fuel, and the tool kit and spare tire all present.

That's with the engine undertray and the rear storage compartment removed(replaces the rear seats on later cab's)

The weight distribution is 39.5/60.5

Funny you should ask. Just weighed it yesterday:

This is a mostly stock '82 SC coupe, U.S. model, with spare tire and jack removed, 31lb. batterey, 7/8" Fuchs, almost empty fuel tank, A/C compressor removed, and 60lbs. of magazines and misc. junk removed from car and trunk!

Now before anyone gets a mental picture of me as one of those freaks who lives in a car filled to the water line w/ old newspapers and has cats living on the dashboard, this did not look like a lot of stuff! I was saying to Tyson, "there isn't much in there. Maybe 10lbs."

"Wanna bet?"

I lost.

Yes, mine was 2572 lbs. I would like to get it lighter, I think that another 100 lbs. could come off w/o ruining it as a street car, but unfortunately it would ruin it for POC competition of any kind, including time trialing. In fact, I have to replace the A/C and some other weight.

EDIT: I should not have said *competition of any kind*, just stock, improved or production classes.

My '76 weighed 2350lbs with the 2.7 in it, but I would suspect I'm up around 2450 now with the 3.2.

My '75 911S with a full tank weighs 2350 pounds on the certifed truck scale at work. The only weight reduction I have done is replaced the factory seats with Recaro SRDs and hollow torsion bars (21/27), and I bet the SSIs are lighter than the stock exhaust. I also removed the air pump. I have not AC, no power anything.

Just curious how corner weighting works.... Should we try equalize left and right to be spot on?

If you push a button on the scale, it will also give you the individual weights of each of the 4 wheels. The screen that is displayed is the important one, and the "cross %" is the operative # w/ corner balancing.

Obviously if you have the rear weight %, you don't need the front, w/ left % you don't need right, etc..
