Bilstein strut inserts - Why dif. length threads?!

Gang,

I've come up with a set of Bilstein struts with raised spindles...

Strangely, one cartridge has a threaded portion (for mounting through the camber plate) that is about 0.6" long, the other has one that is about 1.1" long...

Does anyone know the difference between the two?

I'm thinking the are two differnt years, but I want the longer thread one, just don't know what this insert is...

DOes anyone have a front Bilstein shock insert that they might be able to measure the thread for me?

Remember those years where they raised the ride height, and installed the thick washer underneath the upper strut mount?

Well, the long one is from those years, and the short one is from the other years. Either will work, but you'll just have to get used to one side having more threads showing out the top of the strut.

Were it just that, I'd be un-concerned, but the issue is I have a pair of front monoball camber plates that Chuck Moreland things are ERP style.. THe bushing through which these threaded areas go through is taller than other comparable setups... So the longer threaded one fits through, the shorter does not...

SO... I can either but a new strut cartridge or buy monoballs from Chuck (or similar)... Strut cartridge is probably cheaper, but Chuck's monoballs look nicer.
