Exchangers vs Header
I am contemplating trading my Stainless Heat exchangers off my 78 SC for a set of headers for the same. I would never drive it when it was cold enough to need heat anyways. Any other ramifications I should know of before I committ to this? This is my baby, but also my toy, so I am looking for sounds and performance. Any insight?
Also, if was to put my SC up on stands, where is the best place to place the stands so as not to impose any chassis twist as it rests? |

I am not an expert on SSI's vs headers, but my understanding is that you won't get any more power out of headers, but that you do save quite a bit of weight.
As far as jack stand placement I would suggest getting Wayne's 101 Projects book. 101 projects |

Heat is good for defrost too, even if it's warm I still get a foggy windshield sometimes....

Do you have true SSI's? If so then what Ed said it true. SSI's are true equal length headers that just happen to have heat exchangers. You won't see any increase in HP by getting pure headers.
