RSR Rocker Seals

As part of my engine drop maintenance rehab I'd like to install the RSR rocker seals to prevent any oil leakage. If I remove the chain housing covers can I get a socket extension through to the rockers or does the entire tensioner need to be removed?

John

if you remove the flywheel side engine tin you can get in that way.

The rockers are removable without removing the chain boxes or engine tin. It isn't as easy as having those things removed but it's doable. Clean the shaft bores before you remove the shafts so the bores don't get scratched. You will need to shorten an allen wrench if you don't remove the chainbox and engine tin.

Can I slide the shaft over to one side, insert seal, slide to other side, insert seal and then retighten? Or do I need to pull them out? This is as far as I've ever gone with the P-engine so I'm very cautious.

I wouldn't recommend adding these seals if you don't have leakage. Very recommended on a rebuild as a preventive measure. Sometimes youu can cause more problems trying to prevent something that isn't happening. A better update for your car might be the new cam oil line restrictors to increase oil pressure.

The seals are thin and fragile. IMO, it would be a fiddly job to get them properly seated with shafts in place.
However, I agree with rw7810....why disturb them at all, if you do not have a leak.
