Whats are the best tyres for a SC

Hi guys,

I'm about to purchase a SC from a dealer and the car needs new tyres all round. As part of the deal I get to choose which rubber I want on the car.

The car will spend most of its life on the road, not the track.

I was considering Yokohama 509 (if they still make them, or their equivalent) as I had a set on a RX-7 and they were nice tyres, lasted well and gave plenty of grip.

Any other suggestions?

Cool Tire Choice......

I have the Falken FK451 model tires on my SC. They are wearing quite well (90% front, 80 % rear remaining) after 5,000 miles and the handling is great. These tires stick as well in the wet as the previous set did in the dry! They are not too noisy and the tire shop that mounted them said they were easy to balance. I have the 205-55-16 size on the front and the 225-50-16 size on the rear. Total cost for the set was a about $500.00 (US).

Good Luck with your new Pcar!

Yokohama AVS ES100. Love tires and great price. Do a search on tires.

I second the AVS ES100's. Pretty cheap (~$115/ corner), but last a while. Not the best wet tire, but good in the dry.

Since you're not paying go for a set of Michelin Pilot Sports--also check the Tirerack.com for ratings and choices--nice informative site.

I'm quite happy with my Bridgestone SO-3's. They stick great on the street and wear very well (although I put perhaps 1k on my car per year). They are ok on the track compared to my race tires.

Do a search and you'll find pleanty of others happy with these tires (tyres)

i have just laced up a set of kuhmo ectasa's after a pair of yoko avs intermed. i like them alot so far, after about 750 miles. they are very reasonably priced too. get some recommendations here and then go to tire rack and reseach. tire rack has great ratings and customer feedback areas.

Aussie,
The guys on this web site have narrowed your choices to 17 brands. I'll bet this helps alot!!

I vote for the Yokes or Michelins, although the Bridgestones are great too.

SO-3s. Check out Tire Rack's tests. Post pics of the car when you get it!
