Two-Tone paint scheme???

Anyone have pics of a two tone paint scheme on a 911???

I've got to paint "mutt" and have been through several ideas...now onto this one....

T-H...I might not be part of the primer black club anymore....just don't know.

There's a guy that posts here often with a two tone Club Sport. I think it's his avatar. Silver w/blk insert.

If you count carbon-fiber as a "color", check out the October 2003 issue of 'excellence' magazine. There is a 2.7 RS replica that has it's whole front and some of the rear in exposed carbon fiber and a silver paint job. Awesome car. "GrantG" over at Rennlist, is the current owner.

That sounds like to car Mike is referring to. Very cool look, it's not rice when it's real carbon fiber.

How about a two-tone like the traditional Austin-Healey job, with a flowing curved line up the rear flank to the front wheel? Look at http://www.austinhealey.com/big.html (try looking at the interactive catalog shots of the 100S - sorry, I don't know how to cut and paste the images)

Or some variant of the wild op-art Safari 911 paint jobs.

I hope you're not talking about those color-changing paints. If so, we'll have to revoke your owners card.

How about a 'retro' look?

(retro paint, not body that is)

It's funny that, to me, some cars look just perfect with a two-tone paint scheme (older Corvettes, Mercedes...) seems to me it's basically a "fifties" thing...
The 911 does not immediately spring to mind as a candidate for that treatment.
So, I'm curious to see if there's any 2-tone nine-elevens that can catch my fancy!

the retro thing doesn't do it for me...

the silver and black does...

I'm thinking so-cal speed shop orange over white, with the green house flowing into the tail...

basically start the orange at the windshiled cowl right above the hood, and flow it down the lines of the car to the taillights...

May as well do the Martini 935 or Rothmann's striping. The Austin Healy scheme could probably be done quite inexpensively if done with precision cut 3M opaque colored film similar to that used for vehicle (buses) advertisments. If you decided you didn't like it, you could simply peel it off.

A few months back there were issues of "911 and Porsche World" where they featured all the years of 911's. Each issue came with a supplement. In one of those, there was an article about an Italian guy who has a gorgeus red and white paint job on a 911. The car was mesmerizing.

LOVE the green and white and green car...the rear is EXACTLY what I want to do. I'd confine the green to the wiper cowl area on the front.

the blue and white too!!!

I'd do a contrasting dark and light silver metallic...or perhaps just two factory colors...
