I have a '82 SC with a VDO Quartz Clock that has a blown resistor. My problem is the resistor literaly "blew-up" and I can't distinguish the color scheme. Can someone please help with the coloring code so I can keep time (I keep running late)? Thanks!!

Your charging system or a charger may have overvoltaged the clock,
damaging a capacitor resulting in the resistor being smoked. I'd try a 100 to 150 ohms 1/2 watt. You'll probably have to replace other components too. Good Luck Loren '88 3.2

Provide the colors on the resistor and we''ll provide the value.

That's the problem, I don't have the colors, the resistor literaly blew up... I'd know the resistance if I had the color. matt |

Try the resistors I suggested. I don't have any clocks to open
and check. Good Luck Loren

I can distinguish some of the colors... Brown, Red (mabey), ???, Gold... The ?? is the one I can't identify. According to your figures, the ?? should be brown, is that right?

Brown is one, red is 2 and gold is 5%.
It's probably a 120 ohms or 12 ohms. 120 is brown, red, brown 12 is brown, red, black the 5% is the tolerance +/- 5% Good Luck Loren

Ok, I fixed it... I went to radio shack and got a 120 and a 10 ohm (they didn't have a 12). Tried 120 first, didn't work. Tried 10 and got it to click but not turn the gears. Tried to just "jumper" where the resistor was and it works perfect!!! Don't know what will happen, but it seems to work fine without a resistor... Now I need to find another excuse why I'm always late....
