Fender bolts - diameter size
Does anyone know the diameter and pitch of the nut that holds the rear bumber onto the bumper shock. I pulled off the rear rubber bumper strip to replace it and found that the 2 nuts under the rubber strip are quite rusted.
I was able to salvage one of the nuts but the second one is in bad shape. The nuts seem to be a 7mm diameter with a 1mm thread pitch. I bought new replacement nuts, but they do not fit. Can someone confirm what size these should be?

They should be M5X .80 or M5 x 1

Metric M8 with nylon inserts. Nothing really special.

To be on the safe side (because I can't remember) you should get some M8-1.25. It only takes 6 nuts anyway.
Just ask for M8, and the place will give you the most popular M8 size (which i think is 1.25 pitch).

I am lucky, there are two terrific places near home and work for me.
Mister Metric in San Jose and Global Metric in Belmont.

kb,
Don't throw away those M7 x 1.00 nuts ... they will fit on your clutch cable!

you mean at the pedal end butting up against the clevis pin? don't they have one with the new cable? M7 nuts and bolts are about as popular as M9 (never seen one used), or M11 (Ferrari 308 Head studs and nuts).

Well, actually, I wasn't referring to a particular end of the cable ... both are M7 x 1.00!
So, as rare as they are, it wouldn't hurt to have spare nuts on hand! And, NO, the new cables don't come with any other hardware! And, the clevis doesn't come with a jam nut, either!

Thanks for all of your help. M8-1 fit with no problem. I found the M7 nuts at a place in San Diego called Marshalls Industrial Supply. I am going back on friday to buy some nice M8-1. I hear that they have other sections besides stainless steel.
Keeping the M7 nuts.
