What does no records on Carfax mean?
Carfax is showing zero records on a car. What does that mean?
Bad, or indifferent? The car is post 1981 and has been registered in Connecticut. |

Thats a little scary. It should show bank liens and issued titles at a minimum shouldnt it?

it means the car is too old. Car fax only goes back so far. What year is the car you are checking on?

I think the CarFax site works less than well sometimes. I had to run my car through twice to get the records out.

This is an '83, Carfax goes back to '81. Although I suppose records could be sketchy as you get back towards '81. What they say on their site is that they don't do pre-81 because there weren't reliable records back then.

Try using zeros where "O" are and vice versa.....mine has two records and they are different....depends on the moron that entered the original records....

My 911 is a 81 and stupid me did not read anything on Carfx's report, stating where pre 81 records were not maintianed. Anyway I wrote an email saying how unhappy I was and no questions asked, they refunded my money.

Don't forget that the SC's DID NOT have the 17-digit VIN.
If your VIN starts with a number instead of a W, then CarFax will not be able to run the records. My '80SC has the 9 digit VIN that starts with a number, and CarFax knows nada. Last edited by singpilot; 01-07-2004 at 08:18 AM.. |

The carfax on my 911 shows the original title issued in Texas and other titles issued. Some of the records are from Conneticut including two titles and emmisions inspection reports. Not all states make the information available but if it's been registered in Ct. there should be some records. I agree, recheck the numbers. The 17 digit VIN started in '81 so carfax should have something on the car.

Its not a real 911...its a black market knockoff imported from Asia.

I think the VIN is right, because it recognizes the right year, make and model of the car. But, it says this:
"The CARFAX database currently contains no records for this vehicle. Please check back again soon, as our database is continually updated." Thoughts? |
