Porsche Crest No history

Three months ago I bought a nice looking 85 factory turbo look, black with a Can-Can red interior. To make a L-o-n-g story short the car has absolutely no history. PO lost ALL records?!
I have taken the car in for valve adjustment, LOF, fuel filter etc.
Car doesn't smoke or leak fluids. All in all the car seems up to snuff. 112,565 miles with supposedly no major work ever. PO swears he adhered to a strict maintenance schedule.

Can someone run the VIN for me?

WPOAB0913FS121872

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Larry

Larry, congrats on the purchase. The car is as you see it.

I bought one with all the records, and even that was a mixed blessing. There were gaps which I spent a great deal of time and money closing (finding the records from 3 different mechs). After all was said and done, they didn't answer all the questions.

What I got was a tight, no leaks, no smoke, great car. Couldn't be happier. Nothing I have seen in 45K miles has convinced me otherwise.

Congrats and enjoy your car.

According to the red book WPOAB0913FS121872 does not exist. But if the 3 before the FS is a C, so the number reads WPOAB091CFS121872 This would be a F-series Carrera Coupe US that ran from August 1984 to July 1985. This was the first series where Turbo look was available as an options (only on Coupe)

Thanks guys,
I guess my eyes are going too. Jupiter you are correct. I transposed and missed the "C".

MY VIN doesn't show on Carfax either. It could be I have it wrong on my registration.

I also cringe when I see "No records" threads as I lost most of my records during a move to my current house. They're nice to have but a good PPI will tell me what I want to know. Carfax can be helpful too...not perfect but potentially helpful.

Question VIN double check

Chad,
Thanks again for running the VIN I gave you_
VIN is actually WPOAB0913FS121872.
I am taking the number off of my smog paperwork VIR. I haven't checked the registration or the insurance paperwork as the car has been away for a few days. I'll straighten the problem out and get back to you.---------------------------------------------------

I rechecked the VIN on the car, on the DMV registration, the contract of sale from the dealership, and on the insurance paperwork. The VIN is as stated.

Maybe this was Dr. Porsche's personal car and never showed up on carfax. LOL LOL

Chili,

You got that from the Redbook? I think you're looking at the chassis number vs. the VIN.

Mine is same F program, same year, however a targa. VIN has no "C" in it.

Larry, the numbers your looking for are on the inside of the drivers door panel. They're a lot more trustworthy than what often gets typed in on the paperwork.
