Smile Dash lights

I have seen many complaints on this board about the brightness of the dash lights. I replaced all my bulbs as many have. What I found that really makes a difference is to clean the inside of the glass. After 20 years of use, dust and humidity cloud the glass even though they look clean. I just removed the bezel and cleaned my tach glass and I can not believe the difference between the tach and the other gauges at night (I also cleaned the gauge face while I was there). It's not that it is a lot brighter, it's that the clarity is so much more defined and it seems a lot brighter. I am going to pull the bezels off all my gauges and clean the glass since it is so easy. If the rest look like the tach, brighter lights is no longer an issue for me.

How do you get the bezel off - literally just "pull"?

It just takes a small screwdriver. From the back of the gauge, you pry up the rolled over portion of the bezel in one section and just slowly work your way around. When I replaced the bezel, I set the gauge on a cloth and used a small piece of wood to roll the bezel back in place again. When assembled, you can't tell the gauge was even touched. When I do the others, I'll post some pictures.

Wait.

I was looking into orange marker, like they use on gun sights. and haven't contacted Holly Speedo to see what they sell. So I don't know what's best.
