Idle setting and timming with strob light.

What should I set my idle at. 1978sc with 964 cams. Seems to sound and idle better at 1000rpms then at 900. Also what should I set the advance at. Should it be the same as a regular 3 liter with sc cams or should it be differen't because of the 964 cams?

Hi:

It should idle fine at 900 RPM. Make sure that you do not have any vacuum leaks.

Set total ignition timing at 35 deg at 6000.

Not trying to be flippant, but isn't that easier said than done?

I'm SURE I have a vac leak somewhere, but have no idea how to find it, short of replacing all of my vac hoses or engaging in dangerous behavior with a propane tank.
