Oh, and Dennis I agree with you 100% on the whole "grey market" issue. If you can get a car like that (read: better than the choked US version) for below market value just because it has a few Z's in the VIN, go for it!

Eric - perhaps you have more discerning "eBay eyes" than I do, but I thought the reference was to the fact that the line across the decklid edge does not match perfectly with the line above the tail lights. I can assure you that the picture in the 1986 sales brochure looks closer to the blue car in that regard than your car (maybe your car has been in a wreck or something?). I am also wondering if there is just more of a shadow on the left of the car??

p.s. That is a joke about your car as your decklid lines up about as perfectly as possible.

Out of curiosity and not to be a wise ass, then why didn't the factory make the minor mods and sell 'em in the U.S.?:confused:

Jon, That's a perfectly good question and the answer is a combination of legal issues and other internal matters w/ the Porsche company that we may never know, but it most certainly was not because of some difficulty in federalising the car.

If you do a search, you might find previous discussions on this board regarding why Porsche pulled the 930 from the U.S. market after the 1979 M.Y. :cool:

Ah, maybe that's where the confusion is. I was referring to the discrepancy between the vertical gaps on the decklid (see red arrows in pic). The right side gap is clearly larger than the left. It almost looks like the left side has zero gap near the bottom. Other than that, it is an awesome looking Turbo!

Alot the 930's that I have seen have the same gap like above. I think it's from the driver lifting it up from the left side(driver side) and because of the weight it is slowly tweaking it.

Hey Eric - yep - I was looking at the wrong thing. That gap is easily adjusted as the entire lid can be slid left to right by loosening a few bolts.

I still say that it just looks like it isn't latched fully; like they were running around taking pictures of everything including under the hood and it got left ajar. The car looks perfect to me, and I am comparing to new ones that I used to sell.

Hey Bob, Yeah, it does look like Pacificblau in the pics, hard to tell though. If so, it would be a "color to sample" optioned car since P.B. was only a 1981/82 color. In '85, the similar color was Slate Blue, but this isn't it. Amazing the way this color looks when it is in brand new factory condition. :cool:

Me thinks it's "Prussian Blue Metallic". :cool:

Oh, and you're probably right about the lid, just picking the only knit.

Stopped by and had a look at this car on my way home
yesterday.
Car's in great shape, 27K miles, very good paint, clean
interior, good rubber.
The interior is dark blue almost the same color as the car,
looks great. The only thing I seen that needed repair was
a small spot on the dash.
I was suprised when I popped the tail, B&B intercooler,
B&B headers and muffler, Power flow intake and filter.
Took it for a short spin, runs good, guessing about 400hp.
If I was in the market I'd pay $28K.

And now it's over - someone did the buy now option for 33,888.00 If it's a 400hp car in that shape - then I think someone got a good find. And I have Marine Blue Full Leather in mine - It looks great.

Someone got an awesome car, I think. And it's definitely not Prussian Blue, which is a color that I do not care for in the least. Prussian Blue was a "purple-ish" color in the late '80s, probably one of the worst resale colors ever. It looks like Pacific Blue, (the color of my car, as well as Doug Zeike's), I have been known to but Pacific Blue 911s w/o a PPI on pure impulse. ;)

It looked like it might have been marine blue to me.

I saw that car earlier and thought the same thing - wow - if only I was in the market. If I would have known it had all the B&B goodies - it might have been just tempting enough...

I hope that someone here bought it and plans on cleaning it w/ Q-tips until I can afford to take it off of their hands. ;) I've rarely been this messed-up over a particular used car, but these 911s can hit you on a level that is so far removed from logic and practicallity(sp?) that it isn't even funny. ;)

Those mid-'80s 930s w/ all of the ROW trim intact, (like the little hanging red fog light in the rear), evoke a time when those cars were *contraband* in the U.S., and having one was just the shiznit. :cool:
