Car Stolen, what to buy
My friend's '95 993 Cab was stolen last Friday from the Hollywood Hills (CA) area while in his driveway (white, btw). He's over the shock and now is looking at a 996. I don't know much about them but I have read on the rennlist site about some rear main seal issues. I did not find anything on the 996 section here so I was hoping some of the readers on this board may have some info. on this alleged issue. I got the impression that it's more prone on the 2002 and later cars....is this accurate?
Thanks, and I did post the question on the 996 board but there's a lot of good knowledge here. BTW, he's looking for a 2000, 2001 Cab/tip/white, preferably in the LA area. TIA

Buy another 993, why upgrade to 996?

My 1994 Speedster was stolen out of my garage when I lived in Santa Monica. Has your friend looked around in EL Monte? Thats where the cops found what was left of my car.

He's looking for a newer car and the cabriolet top looks a lot smoother down on the 996s. He rarely, if ever, has the top up and likes the idea of getting rid of the boot. I recommended a C4S but he wants newer.

The CHP told me that the area was a popular dumping groud for the carcuses of stolen cars. The CHP actually found the car and called me. Silly me I said great where can I pick it up? AFter the cop was finished laughing he told me they stripped it and burned it.

He got a little tired of LA traffic in his 930 and came across a tip so he's sold on 'em.

Your friend needs to make 2 purchases....the next car....and a small but powerful 9mm.
I recommend a Sig 226 or 228....with Hi-vo Teflon ammo....or Black Talon ammo. Wait for the purps to come back....then dump them out in the boonies and burn them!! No Repeat Offenders!! Bob
