SSI install questions

79 SC
1. There is a ~3/8" tube tapped into the back of the stock exhaust crossover pipe. It goes up through the engine tin and disappears behind the motor. What is it and can I cut it off/crimp it?

2. edited out
Thanks

That is the EGR thingie tube, if you look behind the AAR on the right bank, you can see it coming up and into the back of the CIS.
If you still have your smog pump and all, I'd just cap it off. If everything has been removed (no smog) you can just remove the whole shebang. I did on my '79 and had no running problems.
