I saw that one, too, and think it is SHARP. Sell me that awesome orange car of yours, then you'll have some extra $$ to put toward it!!

"Joseph" at rpm get loads of really nice cars. The catch is they ask top top dollar for them. For the record we bought a really nice clean stragith 96 C4S at auction last spring with turbo wing for 39k.

Hi Chris ... long time no talk !

I just fell in love with the looks of that car .. It might be a 'must have'
.. just wanted to get some sort of idea if the price of that car is inline and worth it ?

typ550 .. I cant sell my Orange RS .. as I think my car and this yellow C4S were made for each other, they need to be parked side by side

I think the orange and speed yellow will complement each other nicely!

I generally don't care for yellows, but that's a beaut! Wouldn't mind having it in my garage.

The car is currently at $58,000 with the reserve still not met. At that price I think it is at the upper end of what these cars are bringing. Then again, where are you going to find another low mileage example in Fly Yellow?

For me, cars like this fall outside of typical pricing ranges. If the car is exactly what you want, and you can afford it, what's a few thousand dollars over the long term. In the past, I have gladly overpaid for special cars and have never regretted it.

I agree.

I have NEVER regretted paying too much for a used car. In addition, none of those cars ever turned out bad financially, because they were always solid, "no story" cars with records, that ended up costing a lot less in the long run.

I have regretted coming up a few dollars short on offers and having great cars go to the guy that ponied up the extra few bucks.

I do regret some of the great "bargains" (i.e. well below market) cars that I have bought over the years.

With older Porsches, BA's piece of advice "Buy the best one you can find" really rings true, IMO. I think the corellary to that is don't be afraid to pay a reasonable premium for it - at least on a car that you intend to love and keep.

That is a sweet car. Too bad it is on Ebay and there are most likely 20 others like you willing to make a bidding war. Looking at the bidding history, the car will hit the reserve and then some, most likely going for more then it could on an private sale. There is nothing wrong paying some extra bucks to get a really nice car which this appears to be. There is something wrong in getting into a last minute bidding war and in an effort to obtain this car and win the auction by paying $10-15k too much. Put your high bid in as late as possible (If it isn't already passed up) and hope for the best.

There was a 96-97 Turbo 993 that sold about a year ago at a dealer for the low $60's to keep thing in perspective.

Hi 89 911 ,

I agree with both of your posts !, i figured about 55k +- tops for the car
and not going to re-bid it any higher, at 60k .. its heading into twin turbo country !, I gess i'll have to keep looking
