2.7 Toast

My wrench pulled my heads after a bad leakdown to find I need a top end and Pistons and Cylinders. I think Im looking at a 3.0 swap. ANy input would be appraciated. Talk about being bummed out.

go with a 3.0 or 3.2L, or if you have deeper pockets a 3.6. Don't be bummed, upgrade!

Sorry to hear that. Swaps are very cost effective unless you get a crap engine. Rebuilds are very expensive, but in the end, you'll have something that, if done properly, will last a near infinite amount of miles.

A 2.7 is a little harder to justify for a rebuild because of the chance it might require work on the case.

Sell the 2.7 core motor and install a 3.0 motor, that would probably be the easiest and cost effective situation. A 3.2 or 3.6 would be great, but a bit more complicated and expensive. A '76 with a 3.0 might even be worth more should you need to get out of it down the road. Challenge is to find a good 3.0 motor that doesn't need work at a reasonable price...but with all the 3.2 and 3.6 SC conversions on this board that shouldn't be too hard!

These two ought to give you a head start:

FS: 3.0SC engine w/ Euro CIS

3.0 With PMO Carbs for sale

They both read and look like very good engines.

That's actually great news! I felt the same as you do when my #1 cyl. had no compression. Now with the 3.2 its a different car. With the light weight car and such a strong powerplant my car is a rocket! Go for the 3.2. The 3.6 is great but tons of money. The 3.0 is bulletproof but the 3.2 has more power and no CIS!
