Another Nurburgring Ride
Sorry if this has already been posted.
http://www.8200rpm.com/stuffvids/nbgrhrlap2.wmv Courtesy of www.weissach.com Don't even think about it if you have dialup. It's 65 meg!!!!! Video is a 10 min. clip of a 993 RS following a GT3- for a little while. Not much different than what we've seen before. Still, nice to see & hear the 993 RS. Cool thing about the video is it's on a busy public day. Lots of other cars on the track (and being passed in a HURRY). How cool is that? Public day........... ![]() There's a bit of commentary from the occupants that's kinda funny. They say this stuff as they approach a slow down/caution area where some off track work is in progress. Fixing the guardrail. Passenger: I suppose it's a good business to be in the Armco repair business? Driver: Oh yeah. Absolutely. Passenger: Plenty of work........... Driver: Absolutely. ![]()

That is cool. One of the best clarity videos i've seen yet. A bit scary when you see someone trying to reverse up the course.....

Great video! I'm fairly surprised to see a 993 RS keeping up with a 996 GT3, especially on the straights.

That was pretty sweet, thanks for posting KTL. NYSCAR, it's impossible to judge if they're pushing the cars, seems as though they're in a "spirited" drive around the nurburgring, but not nearing the limit (even on the straights). If both cars were stock, you wouldn't see the 996s taillights for very long.

Sweeeeet!
![]() ![]() The guy in the 993 knows that track like the back of his hand, and I think that makes a huge difference. I would love to have that track in my backyard!

Is there anything that clearly indicates that its a GT3? The US spec GT3 has a different wing, of course. It could just be a 996 with an aero kit.
The 993 RS is fast -- look at all the other cars he passes (plenty of porsches in there too).

knowing the track (Nurburgring) is more important than the car you drive on it! I was passed by chep ol' VW Polo and such by guys who drive the track often, but with a few laps under my belt that was not the case for the most part. I found that just when you think a corner is so tight you must brake hard (you don't need to) and then there are corners that seem to be ok and (they aren't...BRAKE) that's the Ring.
What fun!

jpinkert, it's a Mk. 1 GT3 which was never officially sold in the U.S. Judging by the fact that it doesn't have the "Carrera aerokit" pieces behind the rear wheels on the lower part of the bumper, I'm fairly certain it's genuine.

I only copied what the text said at weissach.com. Their text says it's a 993 RS and a GT3 so...............
I honestly couldn't be certain of the 996 silver car. Thanks to ZAMIRZ for the details.

Yah I figured the guy in the RS knew the track well, but there were a couple of good straights where I expected to see the GT3 pull away for a second or two (driving straight with the pedal down doesn't take much skill or familiarity

Would of liked to see the 993 picture. Kind of reminds of throwing a GT car in our lowest level of a DE. Lots of fun!
