Pelican friend has passed away

Pelican friend passes away...

Hi all. I have just received the news that Chip Eval (IkoIko on this board) has passed away from a very long bought with cancer.

Chip has been a staple at Pomona for many, many years, occupying the booth next to Pelican...

I completely understand. Chip was a good friend to everyone that knew him. He will be sadly missed.

Wow, this is a bummer for the day. I'd never met Chip, but dealt with him many times and he was always a super guy.

oh my- this is so terrible! I last saw him at the pomona swap meet a couple weeks ago, and though he looked tired, he didn't complain or anything- just loved to talk Porsche to the last i guess. God rest his soul and deepest condolences to his family

He was one of those guys that was a pleasure to deal with every time.

Those type of guys will be missed.

Chip will be missed.

I have worked for Chip and Lise at their home in Long Beach. Very nice people and genuine Porsche fanatics. Well, Chip anyway, but Lise supported everything Chip wanted to do.

He was mid way thru building a 911 track car for himself and Lise, and building up a street/track car for a female friend. Someone sent him an engine for that latter car that broke within 5 minutes of it's first firing. He had some serious setbacks on that car in the last couple of months. Chip never showed anything but optimism no matter what the circumstance. The extremely bad luck on the car (there was more) and his own personal health gains and setbacks never diminshed his upbeat outlook. That, in itself, is what the man was made of.

I seriously doubt I could have kept my chin up like Chip did. I think we all lost a very fine friend whether you knew him or not.

He sold a lot of parts on Ebay and at Pomona as well as Don and Glen's 914 swap and the German Auto Fest.

God rest Chip's soul.

This is truly sad news, I knew him and talked to him everytime I ran into him at Pomona and D&G's. He was a great guy and I have bought several parts from him in the past. I didnt even know he was sick. My hat is off in honor of this tragic news. He will be missed.

I didn't have the good fortune to ever meet Chip. Still, I mourn our loss.

Our deepest heartfelt condolences go out to Chip's family. Chip was always in a good mood regardless of how he felt physically.

Chip you will be missed, only God knows how many people you have touched by your kindness, exuberance for life and generosity.

God Bless you Chip

Sorry to hear it...I did not know him well, but I have bent the arm and swilled more than a few brewskis with him over the years. He had a good heart, great sense of humor and even put up with ME.....

My prayers go out to his wife and family.

I am VERY sorry to hear this and I extend my deepest condolences to his family.

Chip and I communicated many times both by telephone & e-mail over the years and I did some suspension work for his race car project awhile back.

What a really cool guy and for sure, he will be sorely missed.

I as well extend my codolences to his family. I had a very nice conversation with him at the German Autofest in Ventura last year. It was the first time I had met him. It is a terrible shame. He surely has left us in the Porsche community all with strong feelings and will be missed greatly.

I met Chip several years ago buying and selling parts (as many Porsche guys do). He was a very nice guy and easy to talk to. He mentioned his bout with cancer but seemed upbeat about fighting it. My condolences go to his wife and family. Sorry to hear of his passing.
