Please Help Me My Lady Doesn"t Start Up
When I turn the key, the starter sounds poor. However, if I push the car, it runs perfectly.
What should I do? Thanks for your help, 911 Carrera 1974 2.7 lts.

Hmmm..
Sounds like... Weak Battery? What is the voltage on the battery when she is off, when she is running? Should be 12 and 13.5-14v Corrodded battery terminals? Pull the battery cables and clean those suckers. If you have corrosion building there, this can weaken the starter. Corroded connectors on the starter motor? Take them off and clean, if they get dirty, the flow of power to the motor is cut back. She has been ignored for a few weeks and she needs some TLC? Drive her some more.

Assuming it's not regulator or alternator, and you do need a new battery? You may want to take a peek at the Optima...

check all connections (battery, starter, and ground strap) and make sure they are all clean and secure. Weak battery sounds like the main problem but it's all possibly at fault since it's electronics (I don't understand it). Good luck.

First, do a load test on your battery. Test your starter. If everything is fine, i suspect a drop of voltage do to high resistance in the cricuit. It could be corrosions at contacts, worn out cables (they do wear out).
Good luck. Phil. |
