RSR or 934
I am considering converting my '76 to a '74 RSR vented flares and fenders or a 934. Any feedback on this conversion would be helpful. Any tips/input positive or negative please post.So far the car has: Cobra Imola Seats, 4 point TRW harnesses, short shift, strut bar, cross drilled brakes, rebuilt calipers, rebuilt engine (2.7), rebuilt trans, aftermarket early turbo tail, front spoiler, RS door panels, OMP suede steering wheel, new Toyo Proxes tires, and a few other mods. What is it worth?

Kind of sounds like a personal decision, right? Which style do you like better? The 934 would be a little more complicated I would imagine as you need to convert to a widebody then add on the 934 flares.

RSR or 934
I like them both, actually less parts required to do the 934 from what I hear. I am a bit concerned about the 934 front air dam being so low for a street car. I'd hate to shear it off pulling into Starbuck's. Anyone done the 934 and had problems?

The 934 won't look right unless you use the center lock wheels, which are quite expensive:

How about giving it the '74 RS treatment?

RSR
What does it take to go with the center lock wheels? I've seen BBS wheels at reasonable prices on the web. Also, I think I saw a bolt-on (?) spindle at Dunkle Bros. swap meet?
I like the IROC and have considered that also. But if I am going to add turbo flares I am as well go all the way and add the vented quarters and fenders. I don't see many of those around So. Ca. The black RSR above looks great. Are the flares steel or FG? My interior already has the RS door panels, racing OMP steering wheel, and Cobra Imola seats. Now it's time for the exterior. |
RSR, definitely.

I love the 934 look but you have to have turbo flares already and then add the 934 flares. The 934 look might be a bit to racy for a street car. But I'll still vote 934 because if you do it there will only be a few like it.

Don't do it! Your car looks great as is, with the SC flares. Just add Euro H4 headlights with black trim rings and be done. They will nicely complement the trim and tail. Save the $$$$$$ you'll spend on the conversion ( I bet you'd have $8000 in it before you blinked) and upgrade the suspension and install a rollbar or cage. Then use the rest for more seat time. Just my .02

RSR
Funny you mention that amount, $8000. I have been quoted as high as $11,000 to do the whole thing including wheels and 2 months to complete. I am considering doing the work myself which I think would take a week, then having it painted. That would save over half of the $11,000!

RSR or 934
Anyone know of an RSR or 934 conversion for sale? If I found the right car I'd trade or buy and sell mine.

rsr is best
We just found our RSR conversion last November, picked it up middle of December from Lancaster, CA.
It's a early '68 converted to RSR looks for SCCA/PCA racing. The previous owner spent over $5000 just in body parts (fiberglass) then upgraded motor, etc. Have fun Now it's time for a bigger motor, etc.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1077253944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1077253963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1077253979.jpg |
Are appropriate performance modifications part of the plan or will this be a "sheep in wolves clothing" that kids in camaros and Hondas will laugh at?

Already have several mods on the car. Engine is a slightly warm rebuilt 2.7, rebuilt trans, cross drilled brake rotors, ss brake lines, cobra seats, strut bar, RS door panels, OMP steering wheel suede, and a few others. I am looking into a 3.2 possibly in the future along with roll bar. So yes, it is more than just cosmetic, more of a work in progress.

RSR or 934?
Bump...looking for more input. Thanks.

If you have that bodykit on it, the car should really have SERIOUS horsepower, brakes and suspension. Otherwise it will just be a poseur. The car looks great as is, I reiterate: DON'T DO IT! A friend of mine had a 74 911 racecar with SC flares, big engine and big brakes, trick suspension. He installed an RSR body kit on it, and the car was considerably slower due to the aero penalty. He made up for lack of straightaway speed by installing massive rubber, but ended up switching to a 993 body instead. And that was strictly a race car, never on the street.
