Spark plugs...should I clean or get new ones?
I'm about 120 miles round trip to my main source of parts (except when ordering). So I checked the plugs today, they had carb, cleaned them. Should I stick with these, or order new ones? Thanks.

I think as a general rule you should replace the plugs in the 10-15,000 mile range,if you want to take them out before that and clean them thats fine but for about $2.00 a piece for standard copper plugs I would replace.

How long does it take to clean 6 plugs? Is your time worth more than $12?

Joe, I was thinking about a Wong CHip. I have a '86 Carrera with no engine mods. I am also interested in your results with the B&B muffler with the SSI exhaust. How is the sound, is it too noisy?

DG624,
I know that this is off of the original thread and I hope that we do not get scolded... In reference to your question about the B&B exhaust and the loudness I do have an opinion. When I purchased my car the previous owner had installed B&B stainless steel heat exchangers and muffler. At the current moment I am removing this entire exhaust system because it is way too loud for my taste and the drone at cruising speeds is not audibly pleasing to me. I am going to be installing the factory style exhaust - hopefully it will be completed this weekend. ![]()

Daryl,
Thank you for the information. I guess it is best to see how the system works before I buy. I am usually off the subject. DIVERGENT THINKING. |

I've NEVER re-used plugs on any of my cars. For a couple of bucks apiece, it's just not worth the hassle. On the helicopter, however, they're about $30 each (and there are 12 of them)

Maintenance interval indicates every 24 months regardless of mileage, perhaps because they are basically imersed in oil when the car is parked.
