And then, boredom sets in
I hate the rain! I was bored, so I cruised on over to the 914 board, just to see what’s up. Never again! Those guys scared me, the first thread I looked at had this THIS
After I had a couple beers to calm my nerves, purely medicinal, I started looking at car pics on my computer and decided to post a couple shots that I took just before my first time driving WSIR. ![]() ![]() ![]() No point, but it did have 911 content. ![]()

What kind of tail is that? Looks like a retractable 964 from here. Is it possible to install these on a 3.2?
Love the color. Talk about understatement.

Wow, car looks great. That's one of the amazing things about a 911, they look good in just about any color you can imagine.

Beethoven, yes, it's a 964 tail, and yes you can put a 964 tail on an earlier body, the hinges are a little different, but they can be modified. The 964 tails will even fit the early cars.

How is the spoiler activated? Is there a switch on the dashboard, or does it come up automatically at speed, as in the 964. And does it make a real difference, aerodynamically speaking, for my '88? And are they are expensive?

I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Williams car a few weeks ago-very nice!
What the pictures don't show is the quality of the 3.6 install. Looks factory! Larry

It's so purty! Some centercaps would finish it off

Dr. Williams, thank you for sharing the utter depravity of the 912 forum with the rest of us. I can't imagine anything more disturbing than "Gonads and Strife," myself. Wow, but that's a nice tail on your car, there. Does life get any better than a 3.6L SC Targa?
Dan

Center caps removed for the track.
![]() A switch and an Autolok controller operate the tail, and the switch is under the driver's seat. There is lots of info here on the C2 tail, it’s about $4-500 average. Thanks Larry, is the car back on the road? Dan, not much better than that here in So CA, but really want one of each.

When you put a 964 spoiler on an earlier car it is manually operated via a switch. I don't think anyone has yet come up with and implemented the automatic up/down for a retro-fit.
Yes a 964 tail will make a difference in aerodynamics and engine cooling, but a Carrera tail will be better. I think they are comparably priced, depends on how and where you get them.

Is that what goes on in the minds of those 914 folks? Really, I'm.....speechless. Something about that was utterly disturbing, I'm sure it will come to me tonight in the form of a twisted nightmare. Damn singing squirrels, get out of my head!

Ryan, I don't know where you found that game link, I coouldn't see it in the thread titles, fortunately. I can assure you that is not typical. I can also tell you that the Pelican 914BBS is the more civilized of the popular boards. Rennlist is very civilized as well, but pretty inactive.
I have hosted a couple of 914 gatherings and the folks are all very enthusiastic as is the 911 crowd. I won't go so far as to say they are the same. But, I don't think they are "scary." |

Milt, I wouldn't admit this in front of the 911 guys, but I'm sure they are just as great as the guys here. It was totally tic, and believe me no offense was taken, I actually laughed pretty good about it.
911 guys, is he gone? Damn cross breeders! ![]()

Your car looks sweet.
There was a similar one for sale here in Hermosa Beach, a 78... for ages and ages. It was at a used car dealer...guy wanted $10.9 for it. Car had 150K but was very clean and looked like yours. Dealer thought that the color was a turnoff...but I liked it. The car has recently been sold cause its not there anymore. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeee! |
