No one should worry about expressing their views. No one should have to edit them either. The point of this board, to me, is not to make friends but to share info and help each other out regarding the workings of a particular car. The fact that we all share the admiration for a particular car and like to see them on the streets should be enough for us to over-look conflicts in personalities. That said, I enjoy following threads where people let it all hang out and rip each other to shreads - it shows balls and strong convictions. Besides, even though we are often having to endure the retarded posts from rich, dishonest, Republican lawyers, there's still something to learn from them.

the good think is that people here are passionate about something. The bad thing here is that people are passionate about something. The so-so thing is that people are passionate about something.

In some sense, respect has to be earned. This community cuts a fair amount of slack out of the gate. But a spade get's called a shovel, and some have less tact than others. The good thing is that redemption is available for those who are willing and able. Sincerity, humility, and a sense of humor are key.

Kinda like life...

"I'm glad to see the diversity we have."

- Uh ?? What diversity? No women (I'm sure they fled long ago). Highly white or so it appears. Probably a fairly narrow range of incomes (judging from the garage photos I see -- upper middle class).

Maybe some political diversity (me vs. Paul). Maybe some state "pride' diversity (me & Paul vs. all y'all).

Probably not too much age diveristy (tho many act like teenagers, I bet that few are).

And really not that much diversity in approach to the cars -- lots of do it yourselfers (as to be expected on a technical forum), and few Concours people.

No complaints but I don't see the diversity.

Sam, you're right...that Denis character is trouble with a capital "T".

--Fogcity, that was a great line.

I resent that. I am a democrat.

Jack Olsen 02-23-2004 10:10 PM

I resent it, too.

I am retarded.

bigchillcar 02-23-2004 11:22 PM

I resent it as well...I wish I were rich.

Rick,

People are only posting their opinions.

I must admit to having to hold back sometimes for fear of posting something thats going to be taken personally, and therefore its probably not going to be very constructive.

Personally i like the (factory) slantnose. ;)

Sam, Great photo as usual, and Randy, what do you mean no diversity? In that picture you have a cop, a race car driver, a black person, (OK, so these 3 are all one guy), :D , an unemployed tree-trimmer, (me), a world famous author and BBS host, (Wayne), an aspiring off-road 911 driver, (Todd/nostatic), and a guy w/ an exotic eye lash, (Chris).

Gawdam rainbow coalition if you ask me. :)

To those who have thin skin, "Lighten up, Francis."

You should see the hazing on our local NoVA BBS. I'm proud to say I take the brunt of it too. It gets pretty rough - like every post there reminds me of Nostatic's posts about his venetian blue Carrera and his wife.

While opinions are always subjective, some excellent ideas can result from heated arguments. I love this BBS. I have been beaten up at times and I have expressed strong criticism at other times.
<br>
I always come back and I always find and utilize the excellent and free information available here. Even though Richard and I don't see eye to eye on a particular repair facility, I have benefited many times from information he has posted.

This board is a good resource for any Porsche owner.

Really. Strats are for posers. Real men play Les Pauls.

You want diversity? how much diversity do you need? Just look at that picture = that there is one of them eye-talian red sumbich ferrrrrrraeri cars - and this here is a Porsche board. Sort of like letting micheal jackson babysit your kids... Sort of like Ralph Nader getting a front row seat at the Republican Convention. How much tolerence do you need?

Embs 02-24-2004 06:29 AM

What you want (hooo) baby I got it
What you need (hooo) you know I got it
(Hooo) all I'm asking (hooo) is for a little respect

quality here .....

People make very good points here.... I find this bbs much more polite then the others I am active on... during the hay day of the bull market I was the options expert on yahoo's options board, the "know it alls" would be very very rude when they did not get the answer they expected. In fact they were down right rude in telling me I knew nothing of the market, even though I had 10 years trading on various exchanges. Needless to say they're all gone from the market place. Also, any venture into a stock chat room even to this day is met with a bunch of rude people that think they're bigger then the market and can not resist the urge to lie about themselves. Human nature says that people can not resist the temptation to A) talk themselves up and B) take liberties with the truth and C) Bully others when they know they cant be called on the carpet. I find that sad, but I find it encouraging that for the most part it does not happen here.

This is a great forum, I am happy I have found it. If I have offended any one with my pimped out drug dealer living in the 80's comments I am sorry (just kidding ). To each his own. and its worth the effort to maintain the quality here..
