Would love to go to but there is a PCA breakfast meeting in San Ramon every Saturday at 0800. Here's a thought; why don't you guys can join us for breakfast and then we'll go on the Mines Rd drive from there?

I don't have anything scheduled so far, so count me in. Where is mines rd.? (i'm bad with names -- give me relative positions)

Hopefully my CIS won't crap out. (having some idling issues recently, but otherwise it runs fine, so I'm coming anyway!) Somebody bring a tow rope!

looks like saturday may be the day at this point. i would like to meet in fremont for south bay guys by 1030-11am, and meet up with the breakfast club from san ramon and any other that will need to travel south to fremont in livermore somewhere. that spot can be determined.

some of you might like a bit earlier start but the roads see more sun by the noon hour. dry roads are fun roads.

mines is at the southend of livermore umb. dan,, you wont need idle speed on this run. cantdrv55 i will skip the breakfast, im in SR every morning @ 7 am, but would love to have you and your buddies meet us. unfixed,, if the rig aint sea worthy by then you can meet us and ride along with somebody.

lets keep talking this week and shore things up as the week unfolds.

PS- chuck i have that in writing now!

I am going to watch the weather on this one. If it is dry and semi sunny, I'll join.

This just might be the week, Toby... If I can get NO ROOF back from the shop (cutting out at high rpm) by week end, I think I'm IN!

map to mines rd

every time in the past when a mines rd run came up I searched in vain for the rd on yahoo maps. This time I finally found it:

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=.TnKpOp_0ToIwuOWa5qdM5Y-&csz=livermore%2C+ca&country=us

I am curious, where does this come out?

I see that mines ends at a fork between Del Puerto Canyon Rd and San Antonio Valley Rd and by that point you are as far south as Downtown San Jose. If you follow San Antonio Valley Rd from there it becomes 130 which comes out near McKee in San Jose. Is that the route? It appears to be about 60 miles.

That map is great- if you zoom out to level 4 & above Mines road vanishes. Maybe the yahoo nerds love driving as well & want the road to themselves

sounds like a hell of a fun time, but I don't have that many hours this weekend. But next time I'm in San Joser heading north, I may have to take a 'shortcut'.

Is this is a full-day activity, and how aggressive is the driving?

The link to the map was brilliant. I've never explored around that area, I can't wait!

You can turn around at mid-point and backtrack. I think that shortens the ride a bit.

He he he. If Toby's in the lead car and you have a passenger in yours, make them take a Dramamine. My advice, do not get sandwiched between Toby in his SC and his Dad in his 'Vette. Last time I went I ended up between the 'Vette and a 996TT. I slowed the TT down, I think. This time, I plan to stay towards the rear of the pack and drive within my abilities.

There is a Coco's restaurant on the corner of North Mines road and 1st street in Livermore. Parking lot isn't huge, but there's coffee inside. It's easy to find coming off the 580 Freeway at 1st. Street. My schedule looks clear for Saturday. I'm juiced!
