Alternator troubleshooting...
Car is a 1967 911E with an S engine and the alt. light keeps going on and battery won't hold a charge. Is this automatically a bad alt. or volt. regulator? Or how I can make sure it isn't a bad battery cell? Thanks.

Put your voltmeter on the battery terminals with the engine running. If it's less than about 13.5 volts, you have a bad charging circuit, either VR or alt.
A bad battery cell will show up as a really low voltage with the engine off. Suppose you have six cells, 2V each. One bad =10V, right?
