It runs! It runs!

For those who have followed my engine rebuild comedy of errors I give you the following: Tonight I finished up the electrical connections and filled the engine up with oil. Now CAREFULLY following Wayne's instructions in his rebuild manual I turned the ignition key. The engine actually turned over! I let it turn over for 30 seconds. After 15 seconds the oil light went out. We have some pressure! I let the starter rest then turned the key again. At the end of 30 seconds the oil pressure gauge was showing 3 bar. This has to be a good sign. I replaced the DME relay and turned the key again. Whir, whir, whir, varooooommmmm! I set the rpm's to 2000 and for 20 minutes (and yes Wayne it seemed like 2 hours) I watched and listened and watched and listened. Sounded great and NO OIL LEAKS!!!!!! I just finished changing the oil and filter and had to run up to my computer to post this message. My wife fails to appreciate this moment. A couple of pics. First the engine (which is actually running):

the important gauges, at the end of the 20 minutes just before I shut the engine off:

I am on such a high right now! Whoo! Hoo!

Beautiful. That redrop only improved your skills. The yellow fan looks great too, nice touch.

Great job! Now that it's behind you, that extra drop probably doesn't seem so bad. Tonight would be a tough night for me to sleep, I'd be ready to drive. FWIW, I don't think many of our wives "get it", mine just rolls her eyes.
