Carrera fuel lines - Aeroquip?

Has anyone replace their Carrera engine fuel lines with Aeroquip hoses? I'd like to replace mine but even from the cheapest sources it's $488 for OEM everything, which is probably about 4 times what Aeroquip pieces would cost.

Anyway, I'd be interested in a DIY materials list if anyone has one.

Thanks...

Wavey are you also going to replace the two fuel lines that come up from the tunnel? If so I have one of them, brand new, that I will make you a deal on.

Which fuel lines Dave? The ones under the intake manifold or the lines from the tank to the engine?

Either way, some of the guys who have done this are BGCarrera32 (Brian), cowtown (Colin), john_cramer, and whoever else i'm forgetting.

Here's a good topic about it:

Kurt, I'll keep that in mind. Seems like there's not much point in doing any of them if you don't do all of them. I'm mainly concerned about the fire hazard from 16 year old fuel lines.

Kevin, I was originally thinking about the main "T" line that runs between the fuel rails, plus the other 2 shorter lines, but there are more back there in the engine compartment, like to/from the fuel filter. Thanks for the lead - I'll check it when I get time later. Should have done a search first anyway - I always forget that.

I hope to finish my install this week and get on with the testing. I provided my manifesto to KTL but am reluctant to make too much info available yet. I made some changes to the fuel filter setup and am going to go with a Bosch/Audi filter...stay in touch. The project has been slow as I rebuilt the tranny this winter and changed seats/redid the interior.

The *exhorbitant* OEM line prices are what drove me to redesign the system...I feel for ya.

Brian did his homework on this one. I think all will approve of the work he's done. And wait 'til you see his entire motor............... super detailing.

FWIW AN fittings, lines, filters, etc are not super cheap...I'm in the process of redoing my fuel plumbing and it's up around $500...the way I look at it, FIRE would cost much more than that

Plus, it looks real purty...

I have done this to all three of my 3.2s, cut the original lines to keep the factory fittings, weld on an AN-6 weldable fittings on each of the ends, and away you go.
