New front end!

Thanks to Jerry for dropping off the new front end. These are GT Racing peices. I was a little worried about that. They fit very well and seem to be built very well. I need to start the fitting process tonight. (if it quits snowing.) Anyhoo here is a pic.

Shawn, your project looks good! Are you still hoping to be done next month?

I hope to. But I won't sacrifice quality just to hit the deadline. I have many nights of "fitting" ahead of me. I think it's doable. We shall see. The tub needs a little wet sanding and its ready to shoot. The front end obviously will take some time. Also when i took out the sunroof it quickly became obvious why it never worked very well. Little pieces came out from everywhere. I may just weld it shut and pull all the motor and cables.

Nice work Shawn! Did you weight the glass and steel parts by any chance?

When do you plan to drill all the little holes in that fiberglass for aerodynamics?

No problem Kevin. It's what we do. Besides enough people have helped me out I feel compelled!

Sam,
I plan at least two holes. One for each hoodpin.

Looks great Shawn, any more pics? How are you fastening the fenders to the rails? Anything in between the glass and metal?

Shaun,
I am using 1/4" bolts with fender washers. I have some Wurth fender putty for the joint. I shot that pic on the way out the door this AM. They are just hanging there. I haven't done any fitting yet. The fenders actually have little dimples where the holes will go. We will see how close they are once I get them trimmed out.

Here is the hood fitted. Check the gap and see what you think. I also need to add some shims to bring the hood up to line up with the cowl. Do I need the hood gasket in when I fit the fenders?

Looking good Shawn!! I am glad they are fitting as well as we thought they would.

By the way, on an earlier thread, Shawn was pretty happy with his new exhaust sound...as I promised him, here is the file..it's in mpeg format and about 2.8mb.

Please don't stream from the server (it's pretty full), right click and save target as...

I LOVE THIS SOUND.

I right clicked, save as and WOW. sounds fantastic. Shawn, what do you have for a motor in this thing? Also, what oil cooler are you using up front?

Jerry, if you strip out the video by saving as a sound file only (if using QuickTime) you will have a much smaller file, which means a lot long sound bite!

Hmmm...I just tried it and it works fine here....

Shawn, try streaming once.....please Shawn only.

If that doesn't work, do you have a high speed/cable/T1 at work?

I could email the file to you. It's only 2.8mb, but your hotmail account will bounce it.

Shaun,
I have a stock 3.2 with headers and that sport muffler. I am using a fender mount Mocal cooler.
Jerry,
I will PM you my work e-mail that should let a large file thru.

That's actually my plan, but I just lost my video driver on the main system...gotta put her under the knife before I can edit it for the masses.

I absolutley hate having to switch to inferior systems to work......
