Adjust or reindex - rear susp. ?

The 78 finally has new suspension components. I did what many have done here: 22/29's, poly bushings w/zerks), Turbo Tie Rods, bump steer'd, neatrix and Bilstein Sports.

I used Thom's calculator as a guide and ended up with 22 degrees for the rear trailing arms. This has the rear at 25, 3/4 to an inch higher than I was shooting for since I set the front at 24.5.

So....with the spring plates centered, can I find 3/4 to an inch of adjustment or should I reindex?

I would drive it a few hundred miles & let everything settle before making any changes. Have you had it corner balanced yet? I think ideally you want the spring plates in the middle of thier adjustability before you take it for corner balancing.

If you are centered, you can probably get 3/4 inch. But you'll be at the end of the range. Maybe ok, may cause problems when you corner balance.

You will be very surprised how much inherent stickiness there is in the suspension. I would drive the car for a bit of time and then reassess how things have settled.

If you are concerned about the rear end being up, then just adjust for the time being and keep an eye on things. Be sure to use the very same location for each measuring session: in your garage, car oriented the same each time over the same areas if possible.

Have you aligned the car yet?

I just rebuilt my suspension and with the spring plate centered I indeed was able to adjust about 3/4" in each direction.

Thanks guys. I'll get the new brake lines on when I get home and try to put a few miles on it. I'm afraid that driving far will be out of the question since all of the suspension is out of whack but I'll try to get some miles on it so the it settles some.

I plan to hand it in for an alignment/corner balance once I get the ride height sorted out.

Chuck....thanks for your articles/posts in regard to the bushing/zerk install, it made my life easier.
