Point Change-over

Has anyone done a conversion from points to a Pretonics pointless system on a mid to late '70s 911. If so what is your opinion? Also thier wiring diagram does not explain the hookup for these cars. What is the proper connections. Thanks for any input.

Spent a while trying to match the Pertronix instructions with the Permatune box. Chuck Moreland was nice enough to help me out and I'll pass along what he posted when I was in your shoes....

"Red wire goes to ignition switch +12v. Should be available on you engine fuse pane, bottom fuse. Black wire goes where the points used to connect."

You do not make a connection at the coil.

Last tip...the little wheel needs to be seated fully on the distributor cam for the dizzy cap to fit properly over the rotor. It can be a tight fit and it helps to gently tap the wheel into place with a deep socket.

I changed mine over but I used the Crane set up. Easy install and set it & forget it. I love it.

I had the Pertronix setup on my 2.7L, and it worked well
