head stud help

Hi guys I am looking for a little help I have a 1973 911t and just adjusted
my valves so while I have my covers off thought I should check for broken
head studs. Engine is a 2.4
My question is to do this do I just put my socket on the nut and apply pressure
and how mch pressure do I apply?
Sorry if it's a silly question.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Not an expert but.

The torque on those nuts is low (20Nm I guess). The way to check it is just put a little load with the wrench until feels tight. That is me.

Some people completely re-torque everything with a torque wrench. That is up to you.

When you have a broken stud you can pull it out or just spins easily. You'll know.

Hope it helps.

When you remove the lower covers, the broken head stud nuts fall out on your head! But not on your engine, just double check the torque (correct torque for your engine) and proceed on with the valve adjustment.

Thanks for the quick replies
Good sign none of the nuts had fallen on my head when covers removed.
Yes faverymi my shop manual called for 22-24 Ft lbs torqe .
Thanks James I checked all nuts and the good news is all were tight.
Thanks again
Mike
