I'm in the garage, working garage cam is on

The garage cam is on while I continue with the fender cleaning. I'm using steel wool to scrape off the remnants of paint ,primer and dried paint stripper. when I have done all the parts I will wash it all with marine clean. Then use metal prep befor applying the por-15.

Pat,

The finished body shell is beautifull!! When do you think the project will be finished?

No web cam for me; I don't think fellow Pelican's need to see some crazy guy in his garage cursing and throwing tools! ;-)

I admire guys like you that have the courage, time, money and skills to do all this yourself. Very impressive. Have you done this before? You look very professional with your whole set-up.

Thanks for sharing.

Mark

Edit: Checked your profile. Aerospace engineer...ohhh. Kinda answers my question.

JP:

At the speed I've been working not for sometime to come. The garage-cam was something I saw on another restoration web page. I thought I would give it a try since I had an old camcorder and and a video capture card in the computer in the garage.

Zoanas:

Popcorn would not go good with my old bare butt. I would suggest you stick to looking at your avatar instead. OH you mean't take the paint off, sorry my bad.

Expath:

I'm no professional and I don't have any money. Time and my own cheap labor I do have. This is the most indepth restoration I have done. I have painted several cars over a 25 year period. Equipment and paint systems have changed over the years so it is a learning curve each time.

Pat - nice work. Thanks for the photos as well. Looks like you will end up with a car you will be very proud of.

Why didn't you just media blast it?Seems like a lot of work although it looks very nice.
Good luck

I have several reasons for not media blasting the body parts.

1: I don't own a media baster yet and if I did those parts would not fit in the booth.

2: Media blasting without a booth would have thrown media all over my garage.

3: Media blasting thin metal requires a delicate hand or else you will damage warp the body parts.

4: I am to cheap to pay to have someone do the blasting and I didn't want to haul the chassis and parts to the vendor.

5: This is the most important one my own labor is cheap. I can work myself to death on this car and if I complain I just tell myself to shut up and go back to work.

6: I am working at my own pace and ther is no specific deadline to be met.

7: Did I mention I like to take things apart while I hang out in my garage.
