You need to get them painted. The car otherwise will look like it has a hangover.

Removing the trim ring for proper paint is a real PITA. Ask me about it. I have one off so far ...

LOL.. I don't think black cars with black trim rings count.

Jack,

Do you recall if those cars had no separate trim rings or did they have the separate trim rings (with single bottom bolt) painted black? From the pics, it looks like the silver Club Sport has the trim ring attached while the white one may not - adjusting screws may be visible.

Regards,
Markus

My H4 trim rings just snap over the chrome ones. Are you trying to remove the rings on the lights themselves?

Chris:

Holy moly... I am glad I mentioned it! So, there is a separate trim ring that goes over the black painted deal? That may explain why adjustment screws are visible on my trim rings that I don't see on the euro or later cars!

I got my H4s as a present and assumed that that was the trim ring to go with. I never actively shopped for the lights...

Fill me in! Thanks!

George

George,
I can't find it in the Pelican catalog but they must have it. I can unwrap my car and take a picture if you really need me to.

Chris:

I found it on the pelican website:

H4 Euro Primered Headlamp Cover Ring (1974-86) $41.75
C-631-141-00
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_911REC_pg5.htm

I guess I can put my disassembled light together again and order the trim rings

If you have chrome and are switching to black or are deciding whether to buy black or chrome, buy the chrome and I'll trade you for my black.

Seriously.

The chrome rings would be the only piece of chrome on the entire car!

I am off to fix a few oil leaks first, then the cosmetics ...
