We will be putting a Sparco Pro 2000 seat in the 73 track car this weekend.

Looking for ideas and pics for a solid install for the track.

thanks

Posted this in the racing forum, but what the heck..here:

I just installed a MOMO bucket in my car last week with the MOMO side brackets similar to what you should have for the Spacro. YOu can mount the bracket to the seat with the bracket flanges turned under the seat or out toward the door and passenger side.

With the flanges turned inward, the side rails would need an adapter plate as the fange face is likely to be too narrow for the stock side rails. With the flanges turned out, the flange face is just right over the side rails (for my seat). I drilled holes for 8mm high grade socket held screws and voila! Nice and low and very solid.

Getting the seat at the right distance for you will be a bit tricky ( a helper would be nice), but not difficult. Install the side brackets on the seat so you can place it on the rail w/o bolting it (you should not have drilled any holes yet). If the seat brackets can't sit on the rails because they are too narow, get 1/4 plywood and lay it across the side rails (you'll have to make an adapter plate). Sit in the seat and slide it to a position that allows for good pedal reach and good arm reach (you don't want your arm to be too extend at the 12 o'clock position, elbows slightly bent).

Once you get the seat at the right distance, mark the side rails (or plywood) it and go to town with the drill.

One could also fit a solid spacer under the seat rail for added strength (maybe an over kill considering the forces, I just use a wide washer). Sandwich the side rails with the spacer and the seat bracket. One could also fab the front spacer to be a part of a cross member for the sub-belt.
