Todd,

I have it saved on Tivo. I am moving in the next couple of days, but if someone can't get it to you this week, tell me and I'll copy it for you next week. FWIW, I am not sure I'd want a DVD copy of that particular race, what an awful weekend of racing.

thanks for the offer. I know it likely is depressing, but it strikes me as one of the milestone moments in the sport.

What day did it broadcast? I'm not sure why Tivo didn't pick it up...

its gotten all of the races (and practice and qualifying) this season fine...and I set it up to do F1 Decade, but it didn't record it, and when I went to check the next viewing it said "there is no next viewing".

otherwise tivo has been very cool...

They're repeating the Imola special:

"Senna Special re-air date SPEED Channel has added an additional air date for F1 Decade: San Marino 1994, the retrospective of the Grand Prix event in which Formula One superstar Ayrton Senna was killed in one of three major accidents. The special will re-air on May 1 at 11 p.m. ET, the 10-year anniversary of the San Marino Grand Prix."

It was a completely unenjoyable experience to watch the race the first time 10 years ago. Personally I don't have any desire to relive it. I'd rather remember Senna alive qualifying at Monaco or passing cars right and left in the rain at Donnington.

I just saw the San Marino '94 F1 Decade show, I remember seeing that race live (taped delay) when Senna was killed in that horrible crash, I forgot Barrichello also had a bad accident that weekend in qualifying. That was the beginning of Schumacher's reign. Long live the King...

memories...

wow... thats a great link.

I was 6 when this car came out...

Talk about thinking outside the box. I'm trying to remember if I had a Matchbox version of that in my collection.

The other thing that strikes me is how the Ferraris really stand out through the years as consistantly beautiful cars. (IMO)

No, it's not enjoyable, but I think it's worthwhile to watch. If only to remind everyone that it was not only Senna that died that weekend.

i was unsure if i wanted to watch it. in fact my girlfriend, knowing how upset i get every time i mention the event, insisted that i didn't watch it. well, i did. it was definitely upsetting, bringing back the memories of the shock that i experienced in the days following the race. the speed tv coverage did cut out all of the disturbing post crash coverage before the race restart that upset me so much 10 years ago. anyway, my girlfriend (who has become a big f1 fan) now appreciates the events of that tragic weekend that eventually made f1 safer for all involved.

All of last season (F1 Decade) I was wondering how or IF they were even going to show that race. I even thought about e-mailing the cast to see if they knew. Well, I ended up watching the second half. They played it at a different time. stefang, thanks for letting us know about the re-boadcast. I would like to see the whole thing, even though it's sad. I didn't start following F1 until a few years ago. Never had cable growing up. Probably a good thing.

Being a HUGE Senna fan all through the '90s when I was in school, barely anyone followed F1 in the States back then. The F1 Decade footage of Senna's in-car during his last lap coupled with the distinct hum of the Renault V-10 brought back a lot of emotion. Really gave me a chill up my spine - I look forward to the re-braodcast just to see that 30 second clip again.

Just last year at the Canadian GP in Montreal, We stayed at the Bonaventure. Ironically, it was where the entire Williams F1 team stayed, too. Was having a beer with my buddies in the hotel lobby after qualif\ying, and sure enough - in walks their Technical Director, Patrick Head. Immediately recognizing him, I grabbed a book that I just bought and rushed over to him like a kid in a toystore. Got him to sign the book inside the cover and soon realized that he autographed a picture of Senna at speed during the San Marino GP in the car that HE designed. Maybe that wasn't the best thing to get his signature on.....................

Another tragic loss of IMHO the greatest driver pre-Senna. Gilles was my favorite driver when I was a kid, when he died in Belgium I was terribly upset. I found Senna and he then became my favorite, of course, he died as well. I will no longer state any more favorites. Long live them all.
