What's this part, and how bad is it?

I know it is something electrical, but what is it exactly? I have been searching, but I'm unable to find a diagram that explains what it is. I noticed that the yellow fitting for this part is cracked, is this something that needs attention immediately?

Cruise control actuator. And it should work fine even like that. It's a vaccum can that based on the cruise control's brain pulls open the throttle. The cable should run over to the throttle body. I wouldn't worry about it.

Cool, thanks Ingo!! I guess I don't even have to worry about it since the cruise control is disconnected.

There you go. Yank it out and save a couple of ounces of weight....

Ingo, the cable does run up to the throttle body, but is disconnected from it. Can I remove the actuator? Will it mess anything else up? Everyone else I talk to tells me to leave it alone but I'm thinking that's a few pounds that could be shed. Besides who wants cruise control on a 911 ?

Whoa, you answered my next question before I even posted it. Are you into telepathy? Thank you Ingo.

Well,

make sure that you block the vacuum hoses that go to it. They will also come somewhere from the intake plenum. You don't want to end up with a big vacuum leak.
