help

My boyfriend has a cbr900. He is trying to remove the engine to take it into the shop. Everything is pretty much removed and then he came across a nut that he did have the right tool for. We asked around and were told it is a castle nut. I have looked everywhere online trying to find out the type of wrench or tool to remove this nut and I haven't been able to find anything. Can you please help...Thanks Kimberly

Unless I am wrong ( which I have been known to be) a castle nut is just a hex nut with slots in it for a retaining pin. Any approiatley sized wrench or socket ( metric on a Honda ) should remove the nuts.

Pull the pin out the side first; the cut ends of the pin (cotterpin) may have to be straightened if bent in order to pull the pin. Then use a metric socket or wrench of the correct size to loosen the nut. If the nut has twelve points, one will have to use a socket or wrench with 12 points on the inside. Jim

Try posting a picture, where is the nut located?
Sometimes you need to lock/hold the engine/axle with the stuck nut on.
Honda CBR 900 isn't that a bit off topic?
Nice bike, before I got into P-cars I used to drive bike every day.
If only I had the money for both
